Jersey City's Zoning Board has approved a plan to transform a vacant lot on Clinton Avenue into a 22-unit residential development. The four-story, 42-foot building will include 14 one-bedroom units, six two-bedroom units, and two three-bedroom units, with 10% of the units designated as affordable housing.

Why it matters

The development will bring new housing, including affordable units, to a neighborhood that has seen many vacant lots in recent years. The project's proximity to public transit and parks makes it an attractive option for residents.

The details

The approved plan comes from Kearny-based LAM Capital Investments LLC and was revised following community consultations. The building will feature a ground-floor garage with 12 parking spaces, a 2,958 square foot roof deck, and 2,279 square feet of green roof. The project will also plant six new street trees and include sidewalk improvements.

  • The Zoning Board approved the project during their January 8, 2026 meeting.
  • The previous building on the site was vacated around 2012 and later demolished.
