The Woodbridge girls basketball team defeated North Star Academy 66-53 in the first round of the NJSIAA North 2, Group 4 state tournament. Laila Stanford led Woodbridge with 17 points and 7 rebounds, while Angel Smith had 15 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals and 6 blocks. Woodbridge, the 9th seed, will now face top-seeded Bayonne in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
