A 32-year-old former Manchester, New Hampshire resident was arrested in Concord on five felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse images after a multi-week investigation involving both Concord and Manchester police departments. Murphy was accused of uploading the illegal files to a cloud storage service and later admitting to struggling with attraction to minors, as well as obtaining the images through various social media platforms.
Why it matters
This case highlights the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in combating the distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material, especially when the suspect has access to vulnerable youth populations. The investigation also raises concerns about background checks and oversight at residential facilities that care for minors.
The details
According to court documents, in late April 2025, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received two cybertips about child pornography files that had been uploaded to a cloud storage service used by Verizon. The first upload was a single image, while the second involved 19 files including several videos of boys being sexually abused. The phone number associated with the uploads was traced back to Casey David Murphy, who was working at the Pine Haven Boys Center in Allenstown, a private residential facility for boys with behavioral and emotional issues.
- In mid-July 2025, Manchester police were initially assigned the case.
- On Oct. 31, 2025, a Concord detective was assigned to investigate the cybertips.
- In late December 2025, Pembroke police contacted Murphy regarding motor vehicle offenses and noted his current address was in Concord.
- On Dec. 24, 2025, Murphy was arrested on five felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse images.
- On Jan. 2, 2026, a probable cause hearing was held, and the case was bound over to Merrimack County Superior Court on Jan. 5.
