The Heartland Community School quiz bowl teams traveled to Clay Center to compete in the SNC quiz bowl competition hosted by Sandy Creek. The B team faced tough competition, while the A team made it to the semifinals before being defeated.

Why it matters

Quiz bowl competitions provide valuable academic and teamwork experience for high school students, allowing them to showcase their knowledge and problem-solving skills. The results of this tournament highlight the strengths and areas for improvement for the Heartland quiz bowl program.

The details

The afternoon started with a practice round for each team to review the rules, followed by a double-elimination tournament. The B team lost their first two matches, including against the eventual conference runner-up team from Thayer Central. The A team had a stronger showing, defeating the A team from Thayer Central in the first round before falling to the B team from Centennial. The A team then faced a rematch against Thayer Central, but the results were reversed, and Heartland ended the day with a 3-2 record.
