Previously missing siblings, both girls and minors, have been located after allegedly being kidnapped by a 19-year-old man whom they met on the online game Roblox and continued to communicate with on Snapchat. The suspect, Hser Mu Lah Say, has been charged with two counts of kidnapping and two counts of interference with child custody.
Why it matters
This case highlights the dangers of online grooming and the importance of parental vigilance when it comes to children's use of social media and gaming platforms. The suspect allegedly used these platforms to establish contact with the young victims and lure them away from their home.
The details
According to authorities, the sisters, ages 12 and 15, went missing on Saturday evening. The family had previously taken away the girls' cellular devices as punishment for going to a local park. Deputies said the family members alerted them to a potential suspect who had been identified through Snapchat. When searching the girls' devices, deputies found a 'constant thread of communication' between the suspect and the victims, including the suspect driving to Indiantown, Florida, to pick up the girls. The sheriff believes the communication between the girls and the suspect started on the gaming platform Roblox in the summer of 2025 before moving to Snapchat, and that the suspect was engaging in a 'grooming process' by sending gifts, mainly food, to the girls' home.
