The No. 8 Nebraska softball team defeated Rutgers 8-0 in five innings on Saturday afternoon at Bowlin Stadium. The Huskers scored three runs in each of the first and second innings to take an early lead, with Jordy Frahm and Samantha Bland each driving in two runs. Frahm also hit a two-run homer, while Hannah Coor, Hannah Camenzind, and Kacie Hoffmann each added a hit. Frahm earned the win in the circle, throwing a complete-game shutout with four hits and nine strikeouts.

The details
Nebraska jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, with Frahm walking and Coor singling to start the frame. Camenzind singled to score Frahm, then stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch that also scored Coor. Hoffmann then singled to bring home Camenzind. In the second, Frahm hit a two-run homer to make it 5-0. Coor walked, Camenzind reached on a fielder's choice, and Cope was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Bland was then hit by a pitch to score Coor. Nebraska added two more runs in the fifth, with Cope walking and Bland tripling to score Katelyn Caneda, who was pinch running. Bland then stole home to complete the shutout.
