The departure of star forward Petra Bozan leaves a void in the Nebraska women's basketball lineup, as the program faces roster turnover heading into the 2026-27 season.Lincoln TodayNebraska women's basketball player Petra Bozan, a 6-3 forward and center hybrid, is set to enter the transfer portal, as first reported by On3. Bozan spent two seasons with the Huskers, averaging 6.6 points per game this past season while playing in all 32 games. She becomes the second player to enter the transfer portal from the Nebraska program this offseason, joining Jessica Petrie.
Why it matters
Bozan's departure is a significant loss for the Nebraska women's basketball team, which has already seen several players leave the program following the conclusion of the 2026-27 season. The Huskers will need to replace Bozan's production and presence in the frontcourt as they look to rebuild their roster for the upcoming campaign.
The details
Bozan was the final addition to Nebraska's 2024-25 roster, arriving in Lincoln a day prior to the start of fall classes in August 2025. The Croatia native had previously competed in Croatia's Premier League and represented her country in three straight FIBA European Championships. As a sophomore, Bozan started the final two games of the season for the Huskers in the NCAA Tournament's First Four matchup against Richmond and the opening round against Baylor.

What they’re saying
“Petra Bozan has started to figure some things out and is finding ways to contribute. The growth we are seeing out of some of the young players in the program has been positive, but the sense of urgency that you can feel from our seniors is real. That's something we're really tapping into and leaning hard on.”
— Amy Williams, Nebraska Head Coach
“It helps when there's a massive presence like her down low. She just does so much for this team, and it might not show up on the stat sheet. I think if you were counting tips, I think she would have had at least four or five (against Oral Roberts) that led to other people getting open or getting the rebound. She just does so much for this team.”
— Jessica Petrie, Nebraska Player
What’s next
The women's college basketball transfer portal officially opens on April 6 and closes on April 20, so Bozan will have a two-week window to decide on her next destination.
The takeaway
The loss of Petra Bozan is a significant blow to the Nebraska women's basketball team, which has already seen several key players depart this offseason. Head coach Amy Williams will need to quickly rebuild her roster and find ways to replace Bozan's production and presence in the frontcourt.
