The Nebraska volleyball team has announced three April spring exhibition matches against Iowa State, Creighton, and Northern Colorado. The matches will take place in Sioux Falls, Omaha, and Chadron, Nebraska, respectively, as the John Cook Arena at the Bob Devaney Sports Center is under construction.

Why it matters

These spring matches provide valuable experience for the Huskers, especially their newcomers and redshirt players, as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 season. Playing against NCAA Tournament teams like Iowa State and Creighton will give Nebraska's coaches and players a clear view of where the team needs to improve.

The details

On April 11, Nebraska will face Iowa State at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Huskers will then take on in-state rival Creighton on April 17 at the D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha. Finally, Nebraska will travel to Chadron, Nebraska, to play Northern Colorado on April 25 at the Chicoine Center.

  • The matches against Iowa State and Creighton will be televised on the Big Ten Network and Nebraska Public Media, respectively.
  • Tickets for the Creighton match are already on sale, while tickets for the Chadron match will go on sale to the public on March 26.
  • After the Northern Colorado match, the Huskers will rush back to Lincoln to attend a Zach Bryan concert at Memorial Stadium, which begins at 7 p.m. CT.

What they’re saying

“We are very excited to play at the Sanford Pentagon. I know our basketball programs have enjoyed their trips to Sioux Falls in recent seasons and have had great things to say about their experiences. We're looking forward to taking our volleyball program there for the first time and playing against a great team in Iowa State.”

— Dani Busboom Kelly, Head Coach

What’s next

The judge in the case will decide on Tuesday whether or not to allow Walker Reed Quinn out on bail.

Playing against top-tier opponents like Iowa State and Creighton will give the coaches and players a clear understanding of where the team needs to improve.
