Marilyn Catlett, a lifelong resident of Broken Bow, Nebraska, passed away on February 14, 2026 at the age of 88. Catlett was a member of the Custer Center community for over 30 years and an active volunteer at the First Christian Church of Broken Bow, where she especially enjoyed Bible studies and teaching Vacation Bible School. Despite ongoing health issues, Catlett remained positive and joyful throughout her life.

Marilyn Joy (Dainton) Catlett was born on April 12, 1937 in Anselmo, Nebraska. She graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1955 and went on to teach at one-room schools in the Berwyn and Central City areas. In 1957, she married James 'Jim' W. Catlett and the couple lived on a farm northwest of Broken Bow for 30 years, where they were part of the Custer Center community. After her husband's death, Marilyn continued to manage the farm until 1990 when she moved into Broken Bow, where she lived for the rest of her life. Marilyn also worked for Ben Franklin, JC Penney's, and the Custer County Assessor's office before retiring in 1998.
