Wolden received exceptional care from CHI Hospice-Valley City and the North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon, where he resided for the last 10 years of his life.

He served as a jeep driver, army guard, and marksman in the 137th Evacuation Hospital Semi-Mobile Unit during WWII, earning the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theatre Service Medal, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Service Medal. After the war, Wolden returned to Walcott and worked for the Great Northern Railroad and as a farm laborer. In retirement, he was an avid deer and pheasant hunter and fisherman, and a proud member of the Walcott Hagen-Helgeson Post 166 for 79 years.
