The Region 1 Boys Basketball Tournament wrapped up on March 10th with the 3rd place and Championship games at the Valley City Hi-Liner Activity Center. In the 3rd place game, the Linton-HMB Lions defeated the Kidder County Wolves 58-49 to advance to Last Chance Saturday at the SHAC in Fargo. The Lions will face the Region 2 Runner Up for a spot in the State Tournament, their first appearance since 2014. The Championship game between EKM and MPB followed the 3rd place matchup.

The details

In the 3rd place game, the Kidder County Wolves jumped out to an early 9-2 lead, but the Linton-HMB Lions roared back to take a 12-11 lead by the end of the first quarter. The lead went back and forth until the Lions went on a 12-2 run late in the second quarter to take a 31-21 halftime lead. The Wolves kept fighting and cut the deficit to 6 points in the third quarter, but could not get any closer as the Lions held on for the 58-49 victory.
