The New Rockford-Sheyenne archery team traveled to Oakes, North Dakota on February 21 to compete in the Oakes 3D and Bullseye Tournament. Despite missing some of their top archers due to a home basketball game, the Rockets still had strong showings, with two first place finishers and numerous personal best scores set across both the 3D and bullseye events.

Why it matters

The Oakes tournament provided an opportunity for the New Rockford-Sheyenne archery team to compete against archers from across the region and measure their progress through personal best scores. Strong performances, especially from younger archers, bode well for the team's future competitiveness.

In the 3D tournament, NR-S junior Eli Alfstad shot a personal best score of 284 to take first place in the high school boys division out of 64 participants. Sixth grader CJ Schmaltz also earned a first place finish in the middle school boys division with a personal best 279. Several other NR-S archers set personal bests in the 3D event, including Bentley Triebold, Anna Foster, Anddie Schaefer, Jackson Forster-Flaagen, and Serenity Millang.
