The Carrington Cardinals boys basketball team led for much of the game, but a late 7-0 run by the Medina/Pingree-Buchanan Thunder in the final minute lifted the visitors to a 59-55 victory on Thursday night. Carrington led by as many as 13 points in the first half before the Thunder rallied to tie it by halftime. The game remained close throughout the second half until M-P-B closed strong to hand the Cardinals their 14th loss of the season.

Why it matters

The loss was a tough one for the young Carrington team, which has struggled at times this season but has shown flashes of potential. While the defeat was disappointing, it's all part of the learning process for the Cardinals as they look to build towards future success.

M-P-B then took the lead in the third quarter before Carrington responded with a 10-0 run to go up 42-37. The game remained close in the fourth quarter until Terek Kinzel hit a 3-pointer and Drew Hofmann scored on an inbounds play in the final minute to give the Thunder a 58-55 lead.
