Edward "Joe" Eugene Riffle, a longtime resident of Washington, North Carolina, passed away on February 15, 2026 at the age of 85. Riffle was a graduate of Williamsport High School in Maryland and served in the United States Coast Guard, stationed in Alaska. After his military service, he worked in quality control at Hamilton Beach in Washington for many years before retiring. Riffle was an active member of First Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge, and was known for his artistic talents, baking, and love of the North Carolina mountains.
