Dream Home Studio and Northside Design Collective have designed a stunning mountain home for a South Florida couple in a gated golf course community between Asheville and Hendersonville, North Carolina. The home features a warm, modern aesthetic that pays homage to the region's natural landscape, with custom details throughout, seamless indoor-outdoor living spaces, and thoughtful features for the homeowners' furry companions.

Why it matters

This home showcases how skilled designers can create a luxurious, functional, and nature-inspired retreat that caters to the specific needs and preferences of their clients, even those from a different region. The project highlights the growing trend of retirees and vacation homeowners seeking out well-maintained, amenity-rich communities that offer a built-in social network and easy access to regional airports.

The details

The South Florida-based owners wanted a safe, well-maintained area that offers a built-in social network for golf, dining, and other gatherings, as well as easy access to the Asheville airport. The design team worked closely with the homeowners for months to customize every aspect of the home, from the two-toned wood-slat ceilings and custom walnut cabinetry to the stunning green stone-slab shower in the owner's bath. The designers incorporated blues, greens, and organic textures throughout to echo the mountain landscape, and included thoughtful features for the homeowners' pets, such as a dog wash station and custom dog-bowl area.

  • The home was designed in 2025 and completed in early 2026.
