Habitat for Humanity of the N.C. Sandhills hosted a dedication ceremony for Kashena Hubbard and her two sons, Josiah and Omari, at their new home on Beeler Avenue in Hamlet, North Carolina. Hubbard spent 300 hours working alongside other Habitat homeowners and volunteers, and attended 22 hours of homeownership classes over the past two years to earn the home.
Why it matters
Habitat for Humanity's mission is to provide affordable housing and build strong communities. This dedication highlights the organization's work in the Hamlet area, where they have helped 28 families make repairs to their homes in 2025 alone, in addition to building new homes like the one for the Hubbard family.
The details
Kashena Hubbard, a single mother of two sons, worked tirelessly to earn her new Habitat for Humanity home. She spent hundreds of hours on the construction site and in homeownership classes to qualify. The home was built with the help of 65 volunteers from the United Way of Richmond County, who contributed over 325 hours of service.
