Coquette Opens New Uptown Location in Charlotte

Popular French restaurant relocates just four blocks away with expanded seating and menu updates.

Published on Feb. 25, 2026

Coquette, a beloved French restaurant, café, and buvette in Uptown Charlotte, has opened the doors to its newly relocated South Tryon Street location. The new space features 60 more seats than the previous spot, including two private dining rooms and an outdoor patio. While much of the menu will remain the same, executive chef Stefano Gallo has created some "elevated" new dishes, and the restaurant is adding popular items like duck fat fried chicken.

Why it matters

Coquette has become an Uptown staple since first opening in 2023, and its relocation, though only four blocks away, is significant for Charlotte residents who view that as "quite the distance." The new, larger space allows the restaurant to accommodate more diners and host private events.

The details

The new Coquette location at 101 S Tryon St. opened on Wednesday, March 4, just 10 days after the original spot closed on February 22. Owner Jill Marcus says they "didn't want the employees to be without a job for too long." In addition to the expanded seating, the new restaurant features two private dining rooms and an outdoor patio. While the core menu will remain, Marcus says Chef Gallo has created some "elevated" new dishes, and the restaurant is adding the popular duck fat fried chicken.
