The organization, founded in 1994 as the industry's first buying group and management-consulting organization, was run for decades by its founder, Ken Peterson, CKD, who relocated the group from Chapel Hill, NC to Charlotte. In 2025, industry veteran Kathy Tilley was named as SEN's president, but the organization has now closed down with little explanation.
