Mission Health monitor to hold community meetings in March

Residents can provide feedback on HCA Mission Health System

Published on Feb. 10, 2026

Mission Health's independent monitor, Affiliated Monitors, has announced two community meetings in March where residents can review the monitor's findings and provide feedback on the HCA Mission Health System. The meetings will be held on March 9 in Brevard and March 10 in Asheville, with the latter including a livestream option.

Why it matters

The independent monitor plays a crucial role in evaluating HCA's compliance with the 2019 asset purchase agreement for the Mission Health System. Community feedback is essential to this process, as Mission Hospital has faced several severe federal citations since HCA's acquisition.

The details

The March 9 meeting will be held at the Transylvania County Library in Brevard from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will be in-person only. The March 10 meeting will be held at Western Carolina University at Biltmore Park in room 346 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will be in-person with a livestream option. Attendees can register to attend in person online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/LL8LG9W.

What they’re saying

“Beyond their monitoring and reporting role, Affiliated Monitors listens to and connects community members to information and helpful resources. The perspectives and feedback that community members share, either through the IM's website or in meetings, is essential to evaluating HCA's compliance with the Asset Purchase Agreement. We are grateful for the community's engagement throughout the year and to those who plan to attend the meetings in March.”

What’s next

Affiliated Monitors is actively scheduling one-on-one and small-group meetings during its March visit and another visit in May 2026. If you would like to schedule a meeting outside of the community meetings, email Mission@AffiliatedMonitors.com.

The takeaway

The community meetings provide an important opportunity for residents to directly engage with the independent monitor and provide feedback on HCA's compliance with the Mission Health System acquisition. This feedback is crucial as Mission Hospital has faced several severe federal citations since the acquisition, raising concerns about the quality of care under HCA's ownership.
