The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU is presenting four exhibitions this spring that invite visitors to engage with immersive artworks exploring themes of time, perception and presence. The exhibits feature works by emerging and established artists using a variety of mediums including sculpture, textiles, sound and photography.
Why it matters
The museum's spring exhibitions aim to encourage visitors to slow down, inhabit the moment and discover meaning through embodied perception as they move through the installations and observe the shifting qualities of light and sound.
The details
The four exhibitions include "Mimi Jung: An Unfinished Origin" featuring the sculptor's woven works using unexpected materials, the "MFA Thesis Exhibition" showcasing the practices of three emerging artists, "Longer Light: Selections from the Collection" exploring how artists have engaged with light, and "Trimpin: Ambiente432" - a site-responsive sound installation. Visitors can attend artist talks, receptions and other events throughout the spring season.
- The exhibitions open on March 31 and run through June 27.
- An artist talk with Mimi Jung is scheduled for March 31 at 4 p.m., followed by a reception.
- The MFA Thesis Artist Talks & Reception is planned for April 17 from 3-6 p.m.
