Montana Tech Nursing Students Organize Hygiene Drive for Butte Salvation Army

Nursing students collect essential personal care items to support individuals and families in need in the Butte-Silver Bow community.

Published on Mar. 5, 2026

Nursing students at Montana Tech's Sherry Lesar School of Nursing and the Student Nurses Association (SNA) are organizing a community-wide essentials and hygiene drive to collect personal care items for individuals and families in need in Butte. All donated items will go to the Butte Salvation Army to help support people in the Butte-Silver Bow community.

Why it matters

The project highlights the connection between community health and access to basic necessities. Many everyday items people take for granted are some of the most needed resources for neighbors facing hardship.

The details

The nursing students are collecting new, unopened items including paper products, hygiene products, and sleep bags or bedding. Both new and gently used sleep bags and bedding will be accepted. Donations can be dropped off at the Nursing Department Office in the Health Sciences Building through March 31, and the Mining Museum has also agreed to serve as an additional drop-off location.

  • The donation drive will run through March 31, 2026.
