Readers can vote for their choice of the top high school athlete on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for the week of February 9th. The nominees come from schools in Biloxi, George County, Gulfport, Pass Christian, St. Martin, and St. Patrick, and include standout performances in boys and girls basketball, soccer, softball, and more.
Why it matters
The Athlete of the Week award recognizes exceptional high school sports achievements and helps build community engagement and school spirit across the region. Voting for the weekly winner is open to the public, allowing fans to support their local athletes.
The details
Readers can vote for their choice of Athlete of the Week by visiting the Sun Herald website and submitting their vote. The poll will remain open until Monday, February 9th at noon. Last week's winner was Kamryn Lafontaine of Bay High girls soccer. This week's nominees include Carnellous Lenard of Biloxi boys basketball, Addie Vise of George County girls soccer, Morris Robertson of Gulfport boys basketball, Mia Lacy of Pass Christian softball, and Maggie Renfrow of St. Martin softball.
