The planned closure of the Missouri Route 2 bridge over East Tebo Creek west of Windsor has been postponed one week due to weather. MoDOT now says contractor crews will begin work the week of March 30, with the bridge closed to through traffic until late May while the existing structure is demolished and replaced.
Why it matters
The bridge closure will impact travel in the area, requiring drivers to use a posted detour route during the construction period. Delaying the start of the project by a week allows MoDOT to better prepare for the closure and minimize disruptions.
The details
Once construction starts, the bridge will be closed to all through traffic until late May while the existing structure is demolished and replaced with a new, wider bridge. Drivers will still be able to access driveways on either side of the bridge but must follow the posted detour using Route 2, Henry County Route J, and Route 52.
- The planned closure was originally scheduled to begin the week of March 23.
- MoDOT now says contractor crews will begin work the week of March 30.
The players
MoDOT
The Missouri Department of Transportation, the state agency responsible for maintaining and improving the state's transportation infrastructure.
What’s next
Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time during the bridge closure, which is expected to last until late May.
The takeaway
This delay in the Route 2 bridge closure will give MoDOT and local residents more time to prepare for the upcoming construction project and resulting detour, minimizing the impact on travel in the area.
