When wealth management firm Buckingham Strategic Wealth merged with Colony Group in 2024 to become Focus Partners, the combined company's St. Louis headquarters underwent a major redesign by Lawrence Group to create a modern, inclusive, and future-ready workspace. The new office features an egalitarian layout with equally-sized offices, open collaboration zones, and design elements that infuse warmth and personality.
Why it matters
The redesign of Focus Partners' headquarters reflects the firm's commitment to fostering a unified culture and values-driven work environment to attract and retain top talent in a competitive industry. The innovative workspace design promotes equity, flexibility, and connection among employees.
The details
Lawrence Group's workplace architects and interior designers were tasked with reimagining the 45,000 sq ft, two-level office space previously occupied by Buckingham. The CEO embraced an egalitarian approach, with all internal offices being the same size to eliminate hierarchy. Expansive open areas were transformed into intimate neighborhoods for focus, collaboration, and connection. Except for a few key roles, the entire office adopted free-desking, empowering employees to choose their workspaces. Thoughtful design elements like artwork, biophilia, and glass walls created a warm, personalized environment.
