Saline County Students Tour Local Government Offices

Over 50 students from three high schools in Saline County, Missouri visited the county courthouse and justice center on Friday, March 6 for the annual Government Day tour. The students heard presentations from local elected officials about their roles and responsibilities, and had the opportunity to view historical county records recently restored and digitized.

During the morning-long tour, students visited various county offices, including the recorder's office where they viewed historical deed books that had been recently restored and digitized. Malta Bend High School junior Zen Brandt was impressed by the local history on display. Fellow junior Colton Goodman said the tour built on a newfound interest in local government that he and his peers have developed through a new social studies course at their school.
