The National Propane Gas Association's (NPGA) Young Professionals Council (YPC) is launching a new State Engagement Program to connect young professionals directly with their state propane associations. The program aims to build stronger communication and leadership pipelines across the industry as it faces workforce transitions and new market opportunities. The YPC is also opening nominations for its annual Young Professional of the Year Award, recognizing outstanding individuals who exemplify excellence and service.
Why it matters
As many long-standing propane industry leaders near retirement, there is a growing need to develop the next generation of talent and strengthen collaboration between state and national propane associations. The YPC's new initiatives are designed to engage young professionals earlier in their careers, provide them with more leadership opportunities, and ensure a smooth generational transition for the industry.
The details
The YPC State Engagement Program enables state propane associations to sponsor a young professional to serve as a liaison between their state association and the national NPGA/YPC. This role is meant to connect local leaders with national initiatives, networking, and leadership development opportunities. The program aims to build stronger communication, increase younger member involvement in state associations, and prepare the industry's future decision-makers. In addition, the YPC is now accepting nominations for its annual Young Professional of the Year Award, which recognizes outstanding individuals who demonstrate leadership, initiative, and commitment to the propane industry.
- The YPC State Engagement Program liaison applications are open through January 30, 2026.
- The selection period for state association liaisons runs from February 1-14, 2026.
- Nominations for the 2026 Young Professional of the Year Award are open now through February 13, 2026.
