A bold, modernist illustration captures the grand scale and functional design of the interstate highway infrastructure undergoing expansion and improvement.Blue Springs TodayThe Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will be closing lanes and ramps on Interstate 70 westbound at Lafayette County Route H on Monday, April 13 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The closures are part of the ongoing Improve I-70: Blue Springs to Odessa project, which aims to add a third lane of travel in each direction on I-70 in that area.
Why it matters
The lane and ramp closures will impact traffic flow and access for drivers traveling westbound on I-70 through Lafayette County. This is part of a larger multi-year project to expand and improve a key section of the interstate in western Missouri.
The details
During the closure, I-70 westbound will be reduced to one lane and traffic will be detoured up and over the ramps at Route H before continuing west. Drivers will not be able to exit at Route H. The Route H bridge will also be closed, but the eastbound I-70 ramps on the south end of the bridge will remain open. All work is weather permitting.
- The lane and ramp closures will take place on Monday, April 13, 2026 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
