Beck's, the largest family-owned seed company and third largest seed brand, has acquired the exclusive licensing rights of the SOYLEIC™ soybean patents from the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council (MSMC). SOYLEIC soybeans are a high oleic, low linolenic variety designed to deliver soybean oil with improved stability and performance without hydrogenation, providing benefits to both farmers and end-users.

Why it matters

The acquisition of SOYLEIC patents by Beck's validates years of farmer-funded research and investment, ensuring this innovative soybean technology has a clear path to scale, stability, and long-term value for farmers across the United States.

The details

SOYLEIC soybeans were developed through decades of farmer-funded research at the University of Missouri and USDA-ARS. The high oleic, low linolenic variety offers soybean oil with improved stability and performance, resulting in a longer shelf life and better performance under high-heat conditions. Beck's acquisition of the exclusive licensing rights will help expand the availability and adoption of this domestically sourced alternative to imported oils.
