Century High School won the Rochester Area Scholastic Chess League City Cup championship on Saturday, Feb. 28, for the third year in a row. Seven teams were competing, including two from Century, as well as Mayo High School, Lourdes High School, Byron High School, STEM Academy and a homeschool team. Century has won the City Cup 15 times in the tournament's 26-year history.

The Century team that won the tournament was known as Century Silver. Mayo High School came in second, the homeschool team took third, and the second team from Century (which was referred to as Century Navy) took fourth. The top five varsity RASCL players based on board points gained during the season were awarded trophies, with Century junior Cole Lappi taking first place. There was also a concurrent RASCL Swiss Open Tournament for junior varsity players and varsity players on teams that did not qualify for the varsity city cup, which Lourdes High School won the team trophy for.

Many of the Rochester players will participate in the Minnesota State Chess Association (MSCA) K-12 State Championship Tournament, which will be held March 7-8 at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. Century High School, one of three co-champions from 2025, will have 10 players at the state tournament.
