The Houston Tigers baseball team is looking to rebound in 2026 after finishing 11-13 last season and falling in the district tournament. Led by all-state senior Aaden Scantlin, the Tigers return several experienced players and welcome a host of talented newcomers who coach Brent Hall expects to make an immediate impact. Houston will open its season on March 20 at the Champs Fitness Wood Bat Tournament.
Why it matters
Houston struggled at times in 2025 but finished the season strong, winning 5 of their last 6 games. With Scantlin and other key returnees, the Tigers hope to build on that late-season momentum and make a deeper postseason run in 2026. The influx of young talent also has the program excited about its long-term outlook.
The details
Senior infielder and pitcher Aaden Scantlin headlines the Tigers' returners after earning all-state honors last season. Scantlin hit .459 with 10 RBIs and 18 stolen bases, and also went 3-4 on the mound with a 2.69 ERA. Coach Brent Hall also expects big contributions from fellow returnees Ethan Carter, Evan Edwards, Oliver Greiner, Jackson Morgan, Gage Smith, Kyson Brede and Aaron McCarthy. Additionally, Hall is excited about a host of varsity newcomers, including Jasper McCloy, Elliton Greiner, Stryker Sloan, Tucker Venn, Karson McCain, Knox McCloy, Eli Carter, Griffin Aaron and Blake Sanders.

You always want to finish the season strong and be most competitive at the end of the year and this is what this team did.”
