Published on Feb. 10, 2026

Annabel Hanson of Stella Maris and Jordin Flohaug of Duluth East both had memorable performances in their final high school Alpine skiing races, finishing fourth and 11th respectively at the MSHSL State Alpine Championships at Giants Ridge in Biwabik, Minnesota.

Why it matters

The strong finishes for Hanson and Flohaug, both seniors, cap off their high school skiing careers on a high note. Hanson's fourth-place result is one of the best individual performances in Stella Maris' young athletic history, while Flohaug's 11th-place finish earns her all-state honors in her fifth and final state meet appearance.

The details

Hanson posted a combined time of 1 minute and 16.63 seconds, her best finish in four years at the state meet after taking 12th last year. Flohaug, who will join the Minnesota Duluth women's soccer team next fall, finished with a time of 1:19.06. The Duluth East senior was admittedly nervous heading into her final high school race but was able to draw on her extensive experience to deliver a strong performance.
