The Head and Neck Cancer Foundation is hosting free oral cancer screening events across the country, including 11 sites in Minnesota, during Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week from April 13-17. The non-invasive screenings are open to the public with no appointment, insurance, or pre-registration required.
Why it matters
Head and neck cancers are the sixth most prevalent cancers in the U.S., and about 50% of current diagnoses are considered late stage and difficult to treat. With an increasing pattern of affecting younger, non-smoker and non-drinker patients, these free screenings aim to enable early detection and improve outcomes for those affected.
The details
The free oral cancer screenings will take place at 11 dental and oral surgery sites across Minnesota, including locations in Aitkin, Long Prairie, Belle Plaine, Burnsville, Lakeville, Mankato, Owatonna, Rochester, Sartell and Sauk Rapids. The screenings are part of the Head and Neck Cancer Foundation's fourth annual nationwide event, which has grown to include 19 states and 60 screening locations.
- The free oral cancer screenings will take place April 13-17, 2026.
