Minnesota forward Grayson Grove will return to the Gophers' program for the 2026-27 season, according to an announcement from the school's NIL collective. Grove emerged as a key contributor last season, averaging 6.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game in 11 starts. His return gives the Gophers added flexibility in building out their frontcourt rotation alongside fellow returnee Jaylen Crocker-Johnson.

Why it matters

Grove's development was one of the bright spots for Minnesota last season, as injuries thrust him into a larger role. His ability to play multiple positions and contribute as a defender, facilitator and scorer off the bench will be valuable for the Gophers as they look to build on last year's progress under head coach Niko Medved.

The details

A lightly-recruited prospect out of high school, Grove took a redshirt in his first season with the Gophers in 2023-24. He then emerged as one of the team's most improved players last year, stepping up when injuries hit Minnesota's frontcourt. In 11 starts, Grove shot 55.6% from the field and showcased his versatility on both ends of the floor.

  • Grove will return to the Gophers for the 2026-27 season.
  • He was one of two players to remain with the program through last year's coaching change.
