Marquette's roster overhaul continues as the team loses another key player to the transfer portal, exposing the challenges ahead for the Golden Eagles' coaching staff.Marquette TodayMarquette women's basketball player Aryelle Stevens announced on Instagram that she will be entering the transfer portal as a graduate student, departing the program with her degree in hand. Stevens, a junior college transfer who joined the team along with head coach Cara Consuegra, played limited minutes in the 2024-25 season before suffering an Achilles injury that sidelined her for the entire 2025-26 campaign.
Why it matters
Stevens' departure continues a roster overhaul for the Golden Eagles, who are already losing starting guard Charia Smith. With just seven players currently projected for the 2026-27 roster, including two who have never played Division I basketball, Marquette will need to be very active in the transfer portal to rebuild its roster for next season.
The details
Stevens originally signed with Charlotte as a junior college prospect and followed Consuegra to Marquette. In her lone season of action in 2024-25, she played a total of 100 minutes across 16 games, with her season-high of 15 minutes coming twice - in the team's first game under Consuegra and in a non-Division I home game 11 days later. After that, Stevens saw limited playing time, appearing in just six Big East games for a total of 14 minutes. Her 2025-26 season was wiped out by an Achilles injury sustained over the summer.
