Sheetz, the popular Pennsylvania-based convenience store and gas station chain, has proposed a second location in the Lansing, Michigan area. The new site would be in Lansing Township, just north of I-496 on W. St. Joseph Street. This comes as the company is also planning to open its first East Lansing location in 2027 at the former Rite Aid site on the corner of Abbot Road and E. Saginaw Street.
Why it matters
Sheetz's expansion into the Lansing market signals the company's continued growth across Michigan, with two new locations planned for the region. As a combination convenience store, gas station, and restaurant, Sheetz offers a unique shopping experience that could appeal to local residents and students in the East Lansing area.
The details
The Lansing Township Planning Commission has unanimously recommended approval of the new Sheetz site, which now needs to go before the Board of Trustees. If approved quickly, construction on the Lansing Township location could begin this year. Sheetz already has two locations open in Romulus, Michigan, and plans additional stores in Metro Detroit and across the state.
