Chevrolet is reviving the Corvette Grand Sport nameplate for 2027, positioning it as the sweet spot between the base Stingray and the high-performance Z06. At the heart of both the Grand Sport and Grand Sport X models is a new 6.7-liter LS6 V8 engine producing 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque, the highest output ever for a standard Corvette engine. The Grand Sport X adds a hybrid electric front axle for a combined 721 hp, blurring the lines between the middle and top of the Corvette range.
Why it matters
The new Grand Sport models represent an evolution of the Corvette's 'everyday supercar' formula, offering a compelling balance of performance, technology, and everyday usability. The return of the iconic Grand Sport nameplate also taps into Corvette's rich racing heritage, while the hybrid Grand Sport X expands the model's all-weather capabilities.
The details
Both the Grand Sport and Grand Sport X feature wider bodies, track-focused hardware, and Corvette's signature hash mark graphics. The LS6 V8 is the first of GM's sixth-generation small-block engines, with a host of performance upgrades like a 13.0:1 compression ratio, dual direct-and-port injection, and a tunnel-ram intake. The Grand Sport X pairs this V8 with a front-mounted electric motor for eAWD, delivering a combined 721 hp. Customers can further upgrade both models with the Z52 Performance Package, adding carbon-ceramic brakes, stickier tires, and an aggressive aero kit.
- Production of the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport and Grand Sport X is set to begin this summer at Bowling Green Assembly.
- Dealer arrivals of the new Grand Sport models are expected in the second half of 2027.

The takeaway
The 2027 Corvette Grand Sport and Grand Sport X represent an evolution of the Corvette's 'everyday supercar' formula, blending high-performance hardware with improved usability and all-weather capability.
