Balam Coffee & Wine, a new cafe and bar from the team behind the Mezcal restaurants, is opening on Monday in downtown Ferndale, Michigan. The new 30-35 seat spot will serve specialty Mexican-inspired coffee drinks, Latin American wines, and a menu of Mexican pastries, wraps, and fresh juices.

Balam Coffee & Wine is located at 207 E. Nine Mile Road in Ferndale, just steps away from the owners' other business, Mezcal Mexican Bar & Kitchen. The cafe and bar will be open from 7am to 10pm Monday through Saturday, and 7am to 9pm on Sundays. The menu will feature specialty coffee drinks like the Chocolate Abuelita, Mexican hot chocolate, and the Mazapan, which is inspired by the popular De la Rosa peanut candy. The wine selection will highlight red and white varieties from South America, including a variety of natural orange wines. In addition to coffee and wine, Balam will also serve Mexican pastries, wraps, and fresh juices.
