Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is expanding its off-road-focused Ram 1500 lineup with the introduction of the 2026 Ram 1500 BackCountry. Slotting between the volume-selling Warlock and the more premium Rebel trims, the BackCountry aims to provide a middle-ground option for customers seeking off-road capability without the higher price tag of the top-tier models.
Why it matters
The off-road truck segment has seen significant growth in recent years, and Ram has been at the forefront with models like the Warlock, Rebel, and high-performance TRX. The new BackCountry gives Ram another option to cater to this expanding market, offering a more affordable entry point for customers interested in enhanced off-road performance.
The details
The 2026 Ram 1500 BackCountry is based on the Big Horn 4x4 trim level and comes standard with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine producing 420 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque. A 5.7-liter Hemi V8 is available as an option. The BackCountry features a 1-inch suspension lift, underbody skid plates, upgraded shocks, 18-inch wheels with 32-inch tires, and front tow hooks for improved off-road capability. Inside, the BackCountry comes equipped with the Big Horn's Level 1 Equipment Package, which includes heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and other convenience features.
- The 2026 Ram 1500 BackCountry will go on sale in the summer of 2026.
