Lake Michigan College is hosting a Soccer Showcase on March 28th, featuring five college soccer teams from the region playing each other in a round-robin format. The event aims to give student-athletes a chance to learn about different college programs they can continue playing soccer while pursuing their education.
Why it matters
The Soccer Showcase provides an opportunity for local high school students to explore a wider range of college options beyond just the major Division I programs, allowing them to find the right fit to continue their athletic and academic careers.
The details
The one-day Soccer Showcase will include teams from Davenport, Alma College, Bethel, Goshen, and the host Lake Michigan College. In addition to the matches, the schools will have information booths to share details about their programs and academic offerings. LMC's head soccer coach Isaac Hernandez hopes to expand the event in the future to include more colleges, potentially even teaming up with volleyball coaches.
- The Soccer Showcase will be held on March 28, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

What they’re saying
“We will be playing each other, but I'm also hopeful that they will bring information about their school to kind of talk about the school and have information there for anyone that may or may not be interested in finding out about those schools.”

“I also want local kids to see that there are other schools that they can continue playing their sport, apart from the Division I big schools. There are definitely other options throughout the country that someone can get a great education while continuing their sport without having to go the Division I Big Ten route.”
