Lake Michigan College is hosting a Soccer Showcase on March 28th, featuring five college soccer teams from the region playing against each other in a round-robin format. The goal is to give student-athletes a chance to learn about different college options where they can continue playing their sport while getting a quality education, beyond just the major Division I programs.

Why it matters

The Soccer Showcase provides an opportunity for local high school students to explore a wider range of college options for continuing their athletic careers, beyond just the most prominent Division I programs. This aligns with LMC's mission to offer accessible higher education and athletic opportunities in the community.

The details

The participating teams include Davenport, Alma College, Bethel, Goshen, and the host Lake Michigan College. In addition to the soccer matches, the schools will have information booths set up to allow prospective students to learn more about their academic and athletic programs. LMC Head Coach Isaac Hernandez hopes to expand the event in the future to include more colleges, potentially even adding a volleyball component.

  • The Soccer Showcase will be held on March 28, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

What they’re saying

“We will be playing each other, but I'm also hopeful that they will bring information about their school to kind of talk about the school and have information there for anyone that may or may not be interested in finding out about those schools.”

“I also want local kids to see that there are other schools that they can continue playing their sport, apart from the Division I big schools. There are definitely other options throughout the country that someone can get a great education while continuing their sport without having to go the Division I Big Ten route.”
