The Cony boys basketball team from Augusta put on a dunking display in their 63-51 quarterfinal win over Presque Isle at the Bangor regional tournament. Three different Cony players threw down emphatic slams, including senior forward Ben Hanke, senior guard Parker Morin, and freshman phenom Carter Brathwaite. The dunks provided energy and momentum for the Rams, who refused to let Presque Isle pull away despite the No. 8 seed playing the top-ranked team tough.
Why it matters
Cony's high-flying offense and ability to finish above the rim showcased the team's athleticism and playmaking ability, which will be key as they advance deeper into the tournament. The dunking display also energized the crowd and Cony's bench, providing a spark that helped the Rams pull away for the victory.
The details
