Bangor's only downtown candy store, Oh, Grow Up!, has opened its doors, offering an array of gummy, sour, and chocolate candies primarily through a pick-your-own wall. The store, located at 21 Central St., will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why it matters
The opening of Oh, Grow Up! fills a void in downtown Bangor, as it is the only candy store in the city center. The store's pick-and-mix concept and unique candy offerings, such as gummy chicken feet and sour sriracha candy, are expected to attract both locals and visitors looking for a sweet treat.
The details
Oh, Grow Up! offers approximately 80 different candies that customers can scoop into a pick-your-own box for a flat $5.50 or a bag for $11.50 per pound. The store also sells individual candies, gifts, and joke items. Owner Andy Day has overhauled the interior, adding a couch and an old Atari on a mezzanine level where visitors can hang out.
