The No. 2 Yarmouth/Freeport girls hockey team defeated the No. 1 Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland/Oxford Hills co-op 3-1 in the North region final, earning their third trip to the state championship game in four years. Yarmouth/Freeport scored three unanswered goals in the first two periods before Edward Little got on the board in the third period, but the Clippers held on for the victory.
Why it matters
