Three-star wide receiver Eli Woodard, a top recruit from California, will officially announce his college commitment on February 10. Michigan is among the finalists for Woodard, who finished his junior year with over 1,000 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. The Wolverines entered the recruiting battle for Woodard later than other schools, but new coaches Kyle Whittingham, Jason Beck, and Micah Simon were recruiting him while at Utah.
Why it matters
Landing Woodard would be a major recruiting win for Michigan, as he is considered one of the top wide receiver prospects in the 2027 class. The Wolverines are looking to bolster their receiving corps after losing their top wideout, Andrew Marsh, to graduation.
The details
Woodard, a Temecula, California native, is currently considered the favorite to commit to USC. However, Michigan has made a late push for the talented receiver, offering him a scholarship on January 22, 2026. The Wolverines are bringing in two freshman wide receivers in the 2026 class, Travis Johnson and Jaylen Pile, and have also added transfers JJ Buchanan from Utah and Jaime Ffrench Jr. from Texas. If Woodard were to choose Michigan, he would be the fifth recruit in the Wolverines' 2027 class and their first wide receiver commit.
