A recent UMBC Institute of Politics poll surveyed 804 Maryland adults, including 731 registered voters, about their level of attention and knowledge on state politics as well as their favorite baseball team. The poll found that 64% of Marylanders say they pay 'a great deal' or 'some' attention to news about Maryland state politics, but only 19% were able to correctly answer 4 or 5 out of 5 multiple-choice questions about the state government. The poll also revealed that 40% of Marylanders consider themselves fans of the Baltimore Orioles, while 16% support the Washington Nationals.
