Atlas Restaurant Group, headquartered in Baltimore's Harbor East neighborhood, is expanding its footprint into downtown Houston. The group will assume management of the existing upscale French-European restaurant The Sylvie, which opened in 2024, and also plans to open a new 7,000-square-foot Japanese fine-dining restaurant called Kannon in the same Texas Tower development in late 2026.
Why it matters
This move represents Atlas Restaurant Group's first major expansion outside of its Baltimore base, signaling the company's ambitions to grow its portfolio of high-end dining concepts in other major markets. The addition of Kannon also diversifies Atlas's cuisine offerings beyond its existing European-focused restaurants.
The details
Under the new arrangement, The Sylvie will retain its existing menu and hours of operation, while Atlas will open the new Kannon restaurant in a 7,000-square-foot space that will seat approximately 200 guests, including 70 on an outdoor patio. Previously, the Texas Tower development was slated to house a seafood-focused restaurant called Dune Road from Berg Hospitality, but those plans never materialized.
