Surveillance footage appears to show Buettner abruptly stopping his Jeep Liberty next to the victim, who was walking in the roadway. The victim then reached for a handgun from his waistband and fired at Buettner's vehicle. Buettner then exited his vehicle, retrieved his own gun, and returned fire, striking the victim in the leg.
