After sustaining water damage during a fire at Keswick Castle in Hampden, Baltimore's The Womb Room perinatal wellness center has officially resumed in-person programming at a new temporary home inside The Accelerator Space in Govans. The organization continued supporting families throughout the transition, leveraging its virtual infrastructure and mobile care model, while simultaneously securing the new physical space to restore in-person community connection.
Why it matters
The Womb Room provides holistic, trauma-informed, and emotionally supportive care across the full perinatal journey, from fertility through parenthood. Its model allows families to access therapy, doulas, yoga, lactation support, and childbirth education in coordinated, culturally competent ways, inclusive of all identities and family structures. The fire displacement highlighted the importance of community support for the organization and the families it serves.
The details
No injuries occurred during the fire, and none of The Womb Room's equipment was damaged. Following the fire, the Baltimore community rallied around The Womb Room with an outpouring of care, sharing messages of encouragement, contributing to a GoFundMe campaign, and offering temporary space options. The move to The Accelerator Space marked an emotional shift for staff and families, but the new space has already begun fulfilling its purpose of supporting community connections.
- The Womb Room resumed in-person programming at the new Govans location in January 2026.
- The fire that displaced The Womb Room occurred in November 2025.
