The Hopkinton Republican and Democratic town committees have selected delegates to represent the town at their respective state political conventions in April and May. What they’re saying

“I was extremely pleased with the turnout, and our delegates are eager to represent Hopkinton at the state convention. I am also optimistic about healthy policy debates and promoting the [MassGOP's] 'common sense' policies to improve the standard of living for all in our state.”

— Jim Mirabile, Chair, Hopkinton Republican Town Committee (Hopkinton Independent)

“The HDTC caucus ran long but there was a lot of energy in the room. I will be as interested in the reaction to DiZoglio's speech as I am in the speech itself.”

— Amy Groves, Chair, Hopkinton Democratic Town Committee (Hopkinton Independent)

What’s next

The Republican convention on April 25 will feature speeches from three gubernatorial candidates, including former biotechnology executive Michael Minogue. Delegates at both conventions will vote on which candidates will appear on the September primary ballot.

The takeaway

The selection of delegates for the upcoming state political conventions highlights the active engagement of Hopkinton's Republican and Democratic town committees in the electoral process. The delegates will play a key role in determining the candidates that will represent their parties in the September primaries.
