Ozlo, a Northborough-based maker of noise-masking sleep earbuds named one of Time's Best Inventions of 2025, has acquired Segotia, an Irish neuro-audio engineering company. The acquisition will allow Ozlo to bring Segotia's neuroscience research capabilities in-house to further examine how sleep impacts physical recovery, cognitive performance, and various medical conditions.
Why it matters
The acquisition positions Ozlo to leverage its unique in-ear sleep tracking technology to gain deeper, brain-level insights into sleep stages and patterns. This could lead to advancements in consumer sleep products as well as potential therapeutic applications for medical conditions.
The details
Through the acquisition, Ozlo will integrate Segotia's existing research infrastructure in neuroscience and neuro-audio technology. This will enable Ozlo to better understand how sleep supports physical recovery and cognitive performance, and how its sleep technology can be optimized to support these systems. Ozlo's Sleepbuds already track sleep duration, alignment with sleep goals, and the impacts of noise, light, and temperature disruptions.
- Ozlo Sleepbuds were named one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2025 in October.
- The acquisition of Segotia was announced on January 6, 2026.

What they’re saying
“By bringing brain-level insights into a consumer form factor, we can better understand sleep at scale. This has the potential to improve recovery and performance for everyday members and to open new doors for future therapeutic applications across a wide spectrum of medical conditions. We see this as an important step in Ozlo's long-term vision.”
— N.B. Patil, CEO, Ozlo
“Deep sleep is vital for physical recovery, while REM sleep is critical for cognitive function and memory consolidation. The addition of a neuroscience team enables us to leverage our unique in-ear form factor to monitor these stages with precision that ring and wrist-based trackers cannot match.”
— Charles Taylor, President, Ozlo
“Joining Ozlo gives our team the opportunity to bring our neuroscience and audio research and technology to a much broader audience. Our team can now play a central role in shaping the next generation of sleep and digital health products, building on Ozlo's incredible product platform.”
— Culann mac Cabe, Co-founder and CEO, Segotia
What’s next
Ozlo plans to leverage the acquired neuroscience capabilities to develop new sleep and digital health products that can provide deeper insights and therapeutic applications.
